Our School Day is from 8:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. for grades Kindergarten – 2nd, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for grades 3rd-6th and 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for grades 7-10.
Every day the students at St. John’s are welcomed by caring teachers into bright and organized classrooms. The day begins with prayer and song, preparing teachers and students for many structured but active learning experiences.
Grammar Stage (Grades K-6) – In the Grammar Stage, students are taught the basic facts and skills in their subject areas. Their fact-filled lessons are full of music, art, and hands-on/minds-on activities. Latin is taught in Grades 3 through 6.
Dialectic Stage (Grades 7-9) – In the Dialectic Stage, students are taught how to analyze and integrate the basic facts and skills they learned in the Grammar Stage. Their lessons are taught with lively discussion and debate. Logic is taught in Grades 7 and 8, as well as Henle Latin.
Rhetoric Stage (Grades 10-12) – In the Rhetoric Stage, students are taught how to effectively communicate the understanding gained in the Dialectic Stage. Their lessons are full of meaningful real-world projects and mature expression of the student’s faith and knowledge. Rhetoric is taught in Grades 10 through 12.
