Jacob Petty originally started volunteering at St. John’s Academy when his children enrolled in 2020. As many families that arrive at St. John’s Academy, the Petty’s felt that God had led them to The Academy. As time went on, his involvement increased at the school, eventually serving on the Board of Governors. In 2022, St. John’s Academy decided to increase their athletic offerings and add the position of Athletic Director. God’s timing was perfect, as He provided Jacob the opportunity to make a career and life change at this exact time.

Before joining SJA, Jacob served as the General Manager for Ray’s Tire and Service for 15 years. He has always had a love for athletics and a passion for helping young people. The past nine years Jacob has led a basketball ministry team that volunteers at local youth detention facilities. He has also served in the Youth ministries at Good News Church at World Golf Village and Colonial Church. His athletic experience includes college football at Wake Forest University, over 10 seasons of coaching flag football, lacrosse, soccer, and basketball.

Jacob’s three children attend St. John’s Academy and are ages 8, 11, and 13. His wife of 20 years, Jeannie Petty, is a fourth-grade teacher at SJA.

“I am thankful and grateful to be a part of a team at SJA with a unified goal of raising virtuous scholars as we help them grow and deepen their faith in Jesus Christ.”
